FRANKLIN, Ind. — Tom Allen, the head football coach of Indiana University, is making a donation to Franklin College.
Allen says the money will be used to build a new weight room, in honor of his father, Tom Allen Sr., who graduated from Franklin College in 1961.
The new state-of-the-art weight room will be inside the new Johnson Memorial Health Athletics Annex on campus.
The school says Allen Sr. is responsible for bringing the first strength training equipment to Franklin in 1958, when he went to his football coach, Red Faught, and persuaded him to have some equipment. It ended up being a bale of hay and some concrete blocks.
