GREENWOOD, Ind. — Human remains found earlier this summer along Fry Road in Greenwood have been identified as those of a missing woman.

A contractor clearing a wooded area found the remains on July 20 and notified police.

The Indiana State Police Crime Lab Biology Unit used DNA analysis to identify the remains as belonging to 44-year-old Kathryn Cole of Greenwood.

Cole’s family reported her missing on Sept. 29, 2020.

A cause of death could not be determined, but foul play is not suspected, said the Johnson County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Greenwood Police Department at 317-887-5619.
