INDIANAPOLIS — It was around 2 Sunday morning when Indianapolis Metro Police were called to the Woodland Trails neighborhood near Arlington Avenue and Interstate 465. Dispatch said someone was having an “emotional crisis.”

IMPD Public Information Officer William Young says officers arrived to the area and some sort of confrontation began. During the confrontation, someone shot one of the officers. That officers was grazed by the bullet, and later taken to the hospital.

The officer is expected to be okay. IMPD have not said who shot the officer or why that person chose to pull the trigger. It’s also unclear what caused the confrontation and who was having an “emotional crisis.”
