INDIANAPOLIS–The man who shot an Indianapolis Metro Police officer and later killed himself, too five hostages Wednesday night, said an update from IMD Thursday afternoon. Police confirmed that Donald Williams, 32, died at Eskenazi Hospital after shooting himself.

Before Williams shot himself, he shot the IMPD officer and a 41-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl. Three other kids who were being held inside the house at 7534 Bayview Club Dr., were able to escape. While they came out of a window, someone fired shots, one of which hit the officer in the leg.

The woman and little girl were listed in critical condition.

The SWAT Team was able to get into the house after the shootings and found Williams shot.

The officer who was shot was taken to the hospital after being helped by another officer, who applied a tourniquet. Both of them stayed on the scene and held their positions until backup arrived.

The victims names will not be released by police. The children who escaped are with family.
