GAS CITY, Ind. — It’s life in prison for the central Indiana stepmom convicted of killing her 10-year-old stepdaughter.
A jury yesterday recommended that Amanda Carmack spend the rest of her life behind bars for strangling Skylea Carmack back in 2019.
Police centered in on Amanda Carmack almost immediately, and they found Skylea’s body a few days later.
Investigators say Carmack likely strangled the girl because she took a charm bracelet. Skylea was reported missing in late August of 2019. Carmack later admitted to strangling her to death in a shed behind her home.
Skylea’s body was found in the shed, in plastic trash bags.
Amanda Carmack will be officially sentenced next month.
