The Biden administration has called Republican Governors who have banned mask and vaccine mandates. They believe they are the reason numbers in COVID cases are increasing. The administration and the president himself invites both Florida Governor DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott to “get out of the way” and let them do the job.
White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, was the first to shame the governors when asked if they were to blame for the spread of COVID.
You’ll hear the president convey later, if you are not going to be a part of the solution, if you are not going to be part of saving people’s lives then get out of the way and let other people do their job.
When asked to clarify what she means by that she says,
Don’t ban, don’t make it harder for people to put requirements on masks or on vaccination status into law.
The president specifically asked DeSantis and Abbott to at least allow businesses and schools to decide on mask and vaccine mandates.
Two states, Florida and Texas, account for one third of all COVID-19 cases in the entire country. Just two states. Look, we need leadership from everyone. If some governors aren’t willing to do the right thing to beat this pandemic then they should allow businesses and universities, who want to do the right thing, be able to do it. I say to these governors please help. If you’re not going to help at least get out of the way.
Time and time again we’ve discussed that any mask that is not N95 will not stop the delta variant. Tony Katz says officials who say otherwise are the ones who need to “get out of the way.”
The data is clear and anybody who says otherwise is a liar – get out of the way- and let us who know how to discuss the science do the job.
