INDIANAPOLIS — Helio Castroneves will officially have the opportunity to win a fifth Indianapolis 500.

The fan-favorite will be going back to full-time racing in the NTT IndyCar series starting in 2022, driving for Meyer Shank Racing. Castroneves is already driving for MSR this year, but on a part-time basis, only competing in a handful of races, including the 500, which he won. He’ll also be in the upcoming race on the streets of Nashville August 8.

“I am thrilled to get the chance to go for a fifth Indianapolis 500 win, and so excited to fight for the IndyCar championship again with a full season of races next year with Meyer Shank Racing,” Castroneves said. “Mike (Shank) and Jim (Meyer) have developed some incredible sponsorships with AutoNation and SiriusXM, and having that support is critical.

The last time Castroneves raced full-time in IndyCar was in 2017 with Team Penske.

Meyer Shank Racing says Castroneves will stay in the #06 car next season. However, Jack Harvey will not return to the team. Instead, someone else will race in the #60 car in 2022, but the team has not said who.
