INDIANAPOLIS — A ceremony is being held today for an Army veteran who was mistakenly buried without military honors.

Henry Thornton, Jr., died in June at age 87. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War.

A memorial service is being held at 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. Anyone who wants to pay their respects is invited to attend as he is given the military honors that did not happen at his initial funeral.

The services for Thornton will be held on Sec. 209, next to the Field of Valor. Enter Crown Hill’s north gate at 700 W. 38th Street and drive east past the Community Mausoleum.
