CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. — A man is dead following a crash early Wednesday morning in Clinton County.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of County Road 300N and 700E just after 1 a.m.

Deputies arrived and found a gray 2005 Dodge Neon crumpled against a tree.

The driver, 21-year-old Caylen Reed, of Frankfort, died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Investigators believe Reed’s car went off the road and Reed overcorrected. Reed’s car went off the road again, traveled approximately 300 feet into a field, and hit a tree head-on.

Toxicology results are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Reed’s death is the fifth crash fatality in Clinton County over a 10-day period.

Sheriff Rich Kelley said: “We are incredibly saddened by yet another fatality in our community! In the weeks to come, we hope to provide more answers as to what took place in this crash. Our thoughts are with the family as they deal with their loss over the next several days and weeks.”
