INDIANAPOLIS–The second of five $1 million prizes for getting the vaccine from Kroger, was given away Wednesday morning at the Kroger on Southport Rd. in Indianapolis. The first million dollar prize was given away last week in Jackson, Miss., with three more prizes left.

Mike McCalip and his wife are recently retired and live down the street from the grocery store.

“It encourages our friends, our associates and our communities to get vaccinated because we all want to get back to living again,” said Korger’s central Indiana President Colleen Juergensen, in front of the freezer section of the store where the vaccine was given.

The effort is called “Community Immunity”.

“As it would be to anyone, it’s a life-changing event,” she said of the prize. Kroger is also giving away 50 groceries for a year prizes. You can still enter to win one of the three million dollar prizes left through July 10.

Laura Rainey, with Kroger Health, thanked the workers who have been part of the effort.

“They vaccinated their neighbors, their co-workers, their family members, our patients and I’m so appreciative of that,” she said.
