COLUMBUS, Ind. — Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting involving a police officer.

The shooting happened just after 4 Sunday morning, when Columbus police got a call about a suspicious person walking around a house on Woodland Parkway. That’s on the north side of Columbus.

Police arrived to the home and found the suspect, who was armed. Something happened between the suspect and police, which led to an officer shooting the suspect.

The suspect was flown to an Indianapolis hospital – where his condition is unknown. The officer was not injured in the shooting.

Indiana State Police have joined the investigation to find out what led to the shooting. Columbus police say a gun was found at the scene, but did not say if it was the suspect’s gun.
