(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indy’s newest art gallery is at an unlikely place: Indianapolis International Airport.

The KIND Gallery takes its name from Indy’s international airport code. Spokesman Bill Stinson says the pandemic wiped out some expected openings of new restaurants and shops. Rather than leave all those spaces empty, the airport has created the gallery on Concourse A as a showcase for Indianapolis artists.

The opening exhibit features 22 small canvases by five artists. The artworks previously were part of an exhibit at the Harrison Center downtown. New works will rotate in periodically.

Stinson says he expects the gallery will remain for at least a couple of years. The airport will review customer feedback to decide whether to keep it beyond that.
