KOKOMO, Ind. — A boy was shot and another was arrested Tuesday evening after a shooting outside the main entrance to Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center.

Officers with the Kokomo Police Department were called to the aquatic center just after 5 p.m., according to a Facebook post by the police department.

“Upon their arrival, officers located one juvenile victim suffering from a gunshot wound,” the post said. “The victim was transported to a local hospital and later flown to Indianapolis for further treatment.”

After the shooting, deputies from the Howard County Sheriff’s Department found a boy with a gun leaving the area.

The boy was detained and later taken to the Kinsey Youth Center for dangerous possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen handgun, the Kokomo Police Department said on Facebook.

Police interviewed several witnesses who said there was a fight involving at least five boys prior to the shooting.
