INDIANAPOLIS — Anna Garrett, a woman believed to be the oldest person in Indiana, passed away May 27 at 112-years-old.
Garrett was born in 1908 in Sparta, Georgia. Her family packed up and moved to Indianapolis when Garrett was 14-years-old. She lived in Indianapolis until her death.
Garrett is survived by her two daughters. Her husband, James Garrett, passed away in 1993.
Garrett celebrated her 112th birthday last year by sitting on her front porch as dozens of cars drove by, honking horns and shouting out words of love and encouragement.
She was just a month away from her 113th birthday when she died.
Her funeral will take place Saturday at Lavenia and Summers Funeral Home.
