STATEWIDE — It’s going to feel like summer this weekend, with high temperatures across the entire state of Indiana in the mid-to-upper 80s.

Tara Hastings, a meteorologist at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, says that’s 10-15 degrees above normal for this time of the year.

If you have outdoor plans, like going out to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Indy 500 qualifying, plan accordingly.

“Obviously bring along the sunglasses, the sunscreen,” Hastings said. “Wear those light-colored clothes and make sure you are staying hydrated out there. So drink plenty of water, maybe some of those sports drinks. And if you start to feel really, really hot, get into the shade, get into the A/C when you can, and get some relief.”

She said it won’t just be the high temperatures that will make it feel like it’s the middle of July, but also the humidity and the mugginess.

Hastings added this warmer weather will continue into the start of next week as well, with highs still in the mid-to-upper 80s on Monday and Tuesday, before “we return to normal” in the middle of the week with temperatures back into the 70s.
