INDIANAPOLIS — Horizon House and Downtown Indy, Inc. are partnering to collect underwear donations for the homeless.

The underwear drive will take place on Monument Circle on Tuesday, May 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Horizon House is asking for new packages of men’s and women’s underwear, sizes small to 3XL.

The goal is to get at least 500 packages of new underwear for the homeless.

A designated ‘pit-stop’ lane on Monument Circle’s southwest quadrant will be marked off so people can drop off donations contact-free. Those who participate will be treated to special Indy 500 swag, as a thank you.

“When [the homeless] visit our center, and they take a shower, or do laundry, or pick up different hygiene products, they often ask us for a new pair of underwear,” said Marcie Luhigo, Director of Development and Communications at Horizon House. “That is something that we always want to be able to say yes to.”

If you would like to donate but are unable to make it to Monument Circle on Tuesday, you can find underwear and more on the Horizon House wishlist.
