TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A man accused of leaving a homemade explosive device outside Terre Haute Police Headquarters early Saturday morning made his first appearance in court Monday.
A passer-by found a canister on fire near an unused police department entrance.
Police say that 50-year-old Curtis Hogan of Terre Haute purchased a gas can, paint thinner, and nails at a local home improvement store.
On Saturday police released a store security photo of the suspect.
Then a tip from a person led police to Hogan.
With a search warrant in hand, officers found a Lowe’s receipt matching the items listing the items purchased.
No one was injured.
Hogan is now being held on $50,000 bond and will be back in court on Thursday (4/29/21) where a trial date will likely be set.
