DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana State Police are thanking an unlikely hero who helped them find a man they were chasing Wednesday evening.

Trooper Blake Stephenson tried to pull over Michael Kline, who was speeding in his SUV on State Road 3 in Muncie, but Kline refused to stop. He led police on a chase, which ended when he crashed into a mailbox on 15th Street.

Kline got out of the SUV and ran away. Trooper Stephenson was stopped by a witness, who said Kline had run into their backyard. Stephenson found a dog that was barking at an above-ground pool. Kline was found hiding underneath the tarp.

Back in Kline’s crashed car was another dog. Cops had Kline’s girlfriend come pick up the dog, but when she told police her name was Brenna Roach, they realized she was wanted on a warrant as well.

They were both arrested and taken to the Delaware County Jail.
