COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus mother is facing charges in the crash that killed her 10-year-old daughter and injured her infant child.

This week, the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office arrested Katelyn Mings, 29, of Columbus.

Mings is charged with causing a death while operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operated a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person less than 18 years old.

On Jan. 17, police were called to the area of East 25th Street in Columbus around 3 p.m. for the crash. When they got there, they found 10-year-old Kaydence Mings dead.

Katelyn Mings was driving at the time of the crash. Katelyn’s baby, as well as the baby’s father, Webster Gilcrease, were also found in the car. All three were taken to the hospital.

Mings is now in the Bartholomew County Jail on $150,000 bond.
