JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. — An inmate has died at the Johnson County Jail.
Correctional officers performing a watch tour found a male inmate unresponsive in his cell just after 1 a.m. Monday.
Jail staff began CPR and called for Emergency Medical Services to respond to the jail.
Franklin Fire/Rescue and Seals Ambulance Service arrived and continued CPR for several minutes, but efforts to revive the inmate were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the jail.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and the Johnson County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
Investigators will release the inmate’s name once his family has been notified.
