INDIANAPOLIS — Three people died in a crash on I-70 Saturday morning.

The crash happened near Holt Road when an Indiana State Trooper found an SUV on the shoulder of I-70 facing the wrong way.

When he began walking up to the SUV, driven by Aaron Negash, 28, it started driving away. The trooper tried to get Negash to stop, but he continued driving the wrong way on I-70.

Before the trooper could get in his car to stop the SUV it hit another car head-on.

When the trooper reached the crash one of the cars was on fire, and he was able to put it out. Then, with the help of an off-duty paramedic, who stopped to help, they tried to help Negash, and the two others inside the other car.

Negash and the driver of the other car, Jepthah Lian were pronounced dead at the scene, along with the passenger of the car that was hit by the SUV. Police have not released that person’s name.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the deadly crash, but they are still investigating.
