New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is of the informed opinion that an “incompetent government kills people.”
No kidding.
Cuomo made the observation during a recent interview on MSNBC, adding that “more people died than needed to die in COVID,” without a hint of irony in his comments.
Apparently, New York Attorney General Letitia James agrees with the Governor. A report released by her office last week alleged that the Cuomo administration seriously misrepresented the number of nursing home deaths in the state.
The data “suggests that COVID-19 resident deaths associated with nursing homes in New York state appear to be undercounted by DOH [the Department of Health] by approximately 50 percent,” concludes the report.
Cuomo’s administration allegedly manipulated the numbers by omitting the deaths of patients who had been transferred out of a nursing home to die in a hospital.
