WASHINGTON–Vice Pres. Mike Pence will not invoke the 25th Amendment and have Pres. Trump removed from office. Democrats instead, will likely proceed with a second attempt to charge and try the president.

The letter from Pence, saying he would not attempt a cabinet vote to remove the president, was sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, just before a House vote on a resolution asking Pence to remove Trump, or at least attempt it.

The resolution was brought to the House by Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin (D), “to immediately use his (Pence) powers under section 4 of the 25th Amendment to convene and mobilize the principal officers of the executive departments in the Cabinet to declare what is obvious to a horrified nation: That the President is unable to successfully discharge the duties of his office.”

Pence explained his rationale in the letter.

“With just eight days left in the President’s term, you and the Democratic caucus are demanding that the Cabinet and I invoke the 25th Amendment. I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our nation or consistent with our Constitution,”

The House plans to vote Wednesday to impeach Trump, saying he incited the riot at the Capitol.
